We travel to the other side of the mountains to discover a different part of Dalmatia. Imotski is famous for being situated on fertile grounds. There are 11 lakes in the area and we visit the two most known, the Blue lake and the Red lake and are considered to be among the deepest divisions in Europe. We continue to Grabovac vineyards where the Grabovac family explain and show us how they grow the grapes and produce wine. The family has a 200 year old tradition in winemaking and the business today is run by two youngest sons. They grow several types of grapes, from the white grapes where the most famous is Kujundžuša, Chardonnay, Žilavka, Pošip and the gray Pinot to the red varieties such as Trnjak, Merlot, Vranac, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. By tasting different sorts of wine, you’ll learn what to look for to find your favorite. Grabovac sons will gladly share some of the secrets behind their success.
